Non- Native to all New England States(although native to US), extremely beneficial for wildlife.  Perennial (short-lived although self seeds easily) can grow up to 5 ft when mature, Yellow blooms with raised yellow center, 2" in diameter with a long bloom time:  June, July, August, September

Prefers: Full to Part Sun, Dry Sandy Soil- Drought Tolerant

Benefits: Attracts: Hummingbirds, birds, bees( its nectar and pollen are crucial for bees, including specialist bees Pseudopanurgus rugosus) , butterflies and insects that prey on  pest insects.  Lepidoptera Host: Supports caterpillars of the Painted Lady and sunflower Butterflies.  Deer Resistant when established-They may eat young leaves, although avoid mature leaves

It is not invasive or an environmental threat

Provenance: Grown from seeds purchased from MCD 2024 grown out in Pepperell, Seeds harvested Fall 2025.

Germination code: C30 (requires at least 30 days of cold stratification to germinate) Available as Fall/Winter Jug Sowing kit

When sowing lightly press the seeds into the soil and cover them with approximately 1/4 inch of a seed-starting mix or soil.
