Non-Native to NE (native further south) Perennial Early spring blooms appear in April. The vibrant blue flower buds are small although clustered making it appear as one large flower. The leaves offer autumn yellow foliage. Blooms first appear around 2-3years from germination.
- Benefits: The tubular, star-shaped flowers of Amsonia tabernaemontana attract long-tongued insects like hummingbirds, butterflies, carpenter bees, and hummingbird moths. Larval Host Plant for snowberry clearwing moth and the coral hairstreak butterfly.
