Native to all New England States Showy Perennial Iris of northeastern wetlands. Self Seeds Readily. Grows to 3ft Tall. Showy Blue/Purple with a little white Blooms from May - August. It takes 2-3 years to mature.
Poisonous to Livestock - can cause human skin irritation so wear gloves when handling
Prefers: Full to Part Sun, Moist to Wet Rich Acidic Soil
Attracts: Birds, especially Hummingbirds
Requires minimal maintenance. In late fall or early spring cut foliage back to the ground before new growth begins. Every few years, consider dividing overcrowded clumps in late summer after bloom — this will reinvigorates the plant and allows you to add the divisions to other areas in your garden or share with others. Iris yellow spot virus and iris borer can occasionally affect plants.
