Alleghany / Smooth Serviceberry- Amelanchier laevis Pick up only (NO SHIPPING)

Native Deciduous Tree/Shrub that is multi-trunked grows 15-25ft tall, white flowers appear before the leaves in April, May, June , followed by summer berries that start red to blue to black. The summer foliage is blue green and turns to a red/orange in the fall.

The fruit is sweet & juicy, considered the most edible of the serviceberries. 

Prefers: FS/PS/Shade with dry-moist soil, although very sensitive to drought

Benefits: food for birds, small mammals and humans, special value to native bees
