Native MA Perennial- It  leaves are smooth to the touch. The tough 4' blue stems help support it to stay upright during its long bloom of blue flowers from Aug-October. 

It spreads very slowly through rhizomatous root system 

Prefers: Full to Part Sun, with Med-wet-Med Dry soil

Provenance: Seeds & Plants originally purchased from PMN 2025,  then grown out and seeds harvested from my garden Oct 2025 Pepperell, MA

The beautiful late blooming flowers attract many different pollinators. Smooth Blue Aster is also a host plant for the Silvery Checkerspot and the Pearl Crescent butterflies.
