Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum pedantum)

Native Deciduous, clump-forming, fern typically grows 1.5 to 2′ tall.  Found on rich wooded slopes, ravine bottoms and damp shady woods. Its finely-textured, somewhat frilly fronds  have curved stalks and are divided into finger-like projections. Wiry stems are reddish-brown to black. Fiddleheads emerge pink in spring.

Prefers: PS to Shade,  Medium to moist well-drained soil . Spreads slowly by creeping, branching rhizomes to form large colonies over time.  Works in a medium size container on a shady balcony.
