Native Spring Perennial Ephemeral (to MA,NH,VT,ME)
One of the first Natives to appear in your garden to welcome spring (April-May ). Early female Bumblebees feed on the pollen as they emerge in early spring. The bloom tube is suited best to large bees for the pollen, butterflies and moths(for the nectar)(these pollinators have the ability to push their way up to the tube to get to the pollen and nectar.
Prefers: Part shade to Shade(does best in shade), with rich, wet, and well-drained soils that are typical of a woodland forest. Over time with the right conditions they can form large colonies.
May not bloom until their second year.
Do not plant near lungwort as they may hybridize
