Squirrel-tail Grass / Fox-tail barley- Hordeum jubatum

Native Short-lived Perennial Grass-Propagates easily through seeds. Salt tolerant so can be used near roads where salt is used.

This grows up to 12-24" Tall, : and  has a squirrel-tail tufted end with a white/purple color May-Aug,  

Prefers: Full Sun and cool soil of any type that is medium moist - dry.  Its growing season is when it is cool spring & fall. 

Grasshoppers that feed on it:    Northern green striped grasshopper, pasture grasshopper, large-headed grasshopper(, and Short-winged Toothpick Grasshopper , Larval host for the Leaf miner fly
