This Keystone Native to all of New England states although rare in many areas of MA, and a few areas of NH and VT, also extirpated(wiped out, extinct) in some areas of Maine  Short-lived Perennial has stunning a deep blue blooms for July- October that grows up to 3ft high.  

Prefers: Full to Part Sun, Medium to wet Soils

Great Blue Lobelia grows large, richly-flowered spikes. The deep blue-violet flowers on  attract many bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Lobelias produce a secondary compound known as "lobeline," which deters herbivores.
