It is a true spring Ephemeral. Blooms early spring just in time for the early Bumble bees.  In nature it is found on the woodland floor when the sun can still reach it before the leaves arrive in the canopy. By early summer the leaves will start to fade and it will be come dormant by mid summer. The name comes from the flower petals that are a V shaped that look like breeches/bloomers that are hung upside down.

It prefers: rich moist hummus soil that is well drained, and shaded.
