Native Perennial that is Low growing attractive ground cover 6" Height with heart shaped leaves which can be 6" in diameter. (Native to all New England States, Rare in some counties of Maine).
Prefers: Shade with moist well drained soil made up of rich woodland humus.
It will keep its heart or kidney shaped foliage throughout the season. A dark red flower will bloom under the foliage in early spring but will fade fairly quickly.
Deer-resistant. Great alternative to Non-Native Hosta's
Although unpalatable to deer and other mammals, many insects are attracted to Wild Ginger, including ants, believed to pollinate the plant.
