River Birch (Betula Nigra) Available Fall 2025

Native Perennial Deciduous Tree that is fast growing with multi-trunks reaching 30-50ft, occasionally up to 90ft.  The crown is irregular shaped, with slightly weeping branches. The bark is satiny, silver that peals to reveal a cinnamon-brown trunk beneath.  The fall foliage is yellow.  These are cuttings from trees on my property and will be 1yr+ in the fall. 

The gracefully branched river birch is a 30-50 ft., usually multi-trunked tree which can reach 90 ft. in height. Often slightly leaning and forked tree with irregular, spreading crown. A spreading crown of several large, ascending limbs support slightly weeping branches. The tree’s selling point is its satiny, silver bark that peels to reveal a cinnamon-brown trunk beneath. Fall foliage is yellow but seldom effective.

 Prefers: Part shade with Moist- Medium soil which makes it useful for erosion control.
