Eastern Hay-scented fern (Dennstaedtia punctilobula)

Native Evergreen Fern   the fronds can be up to a foot wide . The foliage is medium green and grows  1-4 ft tall the fronds have a soft, hairy surface.  Reproduces by spores.

Prefers: Part Shade , Shade with Moist, well-drained soil.

Can be confused with Lady fern (Athyrium filix-femina) or Silvery glade fern (Deparia acrostichoides), although it may be recognized by the sweet scent of new mown hay which is released when the blade is crushed between the fingers or when it is dried.
